Clio Manage

Project Management

Connect AI agents to Clio Manage, the cloud legal practice management platform. Agents open matters, create contacts, log billable time entries, and monitor activities and tasks across the practice.

9 actions OAuth available
A signed engagement letter completes in the e-signature system
List Contacts searches the practice for an existing contact matched on name and email
Create Contact adds the client when no match exists
Agent assembles the conflict-check picture, existing matters and contacts that share names, companies, or adverse parties, from List Matters and List Contacts
The responsible attorney reviews the conflict summary and clears the engagement
Create Matter opens the matter for the client with description and status set
The practice channel gets the new matter, client, and responsible attorney
The intake tasks appear in the firm's checklist tooling, linked to the matter number

What This Integration Enables

Clio Manage is the operational spine of a law practice: matters, contacts, billable activity, and tasks. The revenue problem in most firms is not the tracking, it is the gap between where work happens and where it gets recorded. A call handled, a document drafted, an intake completed in another system, none of it exists in Clio until someone transcribes it, and transcription loses time, which loses fees. FlowRunner agents close that gap. - Open matters and create contacts from intake forms, CRM records, and signed engagement letters - Log billable time entries against matters when work completes elsewhere, with review before they land - Look up matter and contact details to enrich other workflow steps - Sweep open tasks and outstanding matters to drive deadline reminders and practice reporting - Sync matters and activities into spreadsheets and downstream systems for firm-wide visibility In a legal practice the sensitive writes carry professional weight, not just operational weight. A time entry becomes a line on a client's bill; a new matter is a formal act of representation. FlowRunner's [human-in-the-loop](/concepts/human-in-the-loop) step keeps attorneys in front of exactly those operations, while the lookups, drafts, and sweeps that consume staff hours run without anyone touching them.

Without FlowRunner

Intake trails the engagement The letter is signed but the matter gets opened days later, and early work has no matter to bill against
Billable work leaks Calls, documents, and emails happen in other systems, and the time gets reconstructed from memory at month end
Deadlines surface too late Task lists live inside Clio, and the attorney who needed the reminder finds it after the date

With FlowRunner

Matters open the day the letter signs Contact and matter creation follow the signature automatically, with the conflict check in front of a person first
Time is logged where the work happened Completed work in other systems becomes drafted time entries against the right matter, reviewed before they bill
Deadlines come to the attorney Agents sweep tasks on a schedule and put upcoming dates in front of the responsible person, in their channel

Use Case Scenarios

Signed letter to open matter, conflict check included

A client signs the engagement letter in [DocuSign](/integrations/docusign). The agent resolves or creates the contact, then assembles a conflict summary: matters and contacts sharing surnames, companies, or opposing parties, pulled via List Matters and List Contacts. The responsible attorney reviews and clears it, and only then does Create Matter open the case. Intake happens the same day the letter signs, and the conflict check is documented in the flow's audit trail rather than assumed.

The billable hour that logs itself, almost

Work completes outside Clio: a consultation ends on the calendar, a document round-trips through review. The agent drafts the time entry, matter resolved from the client name, duration from the event, a note describing the work, and posts it to the attorney in [Slack](/integrations/slack). One tap approves, and Create Time Entry logs it against the matter that same day. The entry also appends to a firm-wide sheet in [Google Sheets](/integrations/google-sheets) for realization reporting. Time captured at the moment of work, not reconstructed at month end.

The deadline sweep that runs every morning

Each morning the agent calls List Tasks filtered to open items, joins each to its matter with Get Matter for client and attorney context, and sends each responsible attorney a direct message with their next seven days of dates. The practice manager gets the firm-wide view: what is due, what is overdue, which matters have stalled. Nobody discovers a deadline by finding it in the past.

Human-in-Loop Highlight

Create Time Entry writes billable duration, in seconds, against a client's matter, and those seconds become line items on a bill that reaches the client. A misattributed entry bills one client for another's work; an inflated duration is a fee dispute waiting to happen, and in a regulated profession, billing errors are not just refunds, they are grievances. So no FlowRunner agent in a Clio flow creates a time entry unreviewed. The agent does everything up to the write: resolves the matter, computes the duration from the source event, drafts the narrative note. Then the attorney sees "1.5 hours, Chen v. Meridian, client consultation re: discovery scope. Log it?" and the entry is created only on approval. The same restraint applies to Create Matter, which formally opens representation: it runs only after a person clears the conflict summary the agent assembled.
