e-conomic

Accounting

e-conomic is the Danish accounting platform from Visma. Agents manage customers, suppliers, and products with currency specific pricing, issue and book invoices, and read the ledger and reports the business runs on.

The billing run for the period is ready and the draft invoices are complete
Get Customers Templates Invoice returns a draft body already filled in for each customer
Create Invoices Draft writes the invoice, then Create Invoices Drafts Line adds the lines
List Invoices Drafts is read back and the agent reconciles the drafted set against the source
Get Invoices Drafts Templates Booking Instruction supplies the exact body each booking needs
The batch, its total and the accounting period it will land in post to the finance channel
The controller releases the batch before Create Invoices Booked posts it to the ledger

What This Integration Enables

e-conomic is a real double entry ledger, not an invoicing app with a report attached, and this connector covers the whole of it. It reaches accounting years and their periods, the chart of accounts with per year and per period figures, and journals with their vouchers and entries. It reaches VAT accounts, types and zones. It reaches customers with their contacts and delivery locations, suppliers, and products with currency specific prices. And it reaches invoices, orders and quotes through every one of their draft, booked, sent and archived stages. If your reason for automating is that the numbers eventually have to survive an auditor, this is the surface that carries them.

Three things make it unusually pleasant to build agents against. The API is hypermedia, and its template routes hand you a ready made body for the next write, so the reliable pattern is read the template, change what the job requires, post it back. Writes accept a caller supplied idempotency key, so a retry after a network failure replays the original response instead of creating a second record. And the filter syntax is expressive enough that an incremental sync is a query rather than a full read. What it does not have is webhooks, so agents poll a listing filtered on a date, which the greater than or equal operator makes cheap.

One behavior deserves naming before you write a single condition against this platform. e-conomic omits a false boolean from a response entirely rather than sending it as false. A flow that tests whether a flag equals false will never match, on any record, ever. Test for absence instead. That is not a quirk to work around later; it is the kind of silent disagreement between what an agent believes and what is true that FlowRunner's human-in-the-loop gates exist to catch.

Without FlowRunner

Documents assembled field by field Every invoice is built from scratch, and a field the layout requires is missed until the document renders wrong
Retries that create second copies A timeout mid write leaves nobody sure whether the record exists, so it gets created again
The close discovered piecemeal Which invoices are booked, unpaid or overdue is worked out by exporting and filtering in a spreadsheet

With FlowRunner

Documents built from templates The vendor's own template supplies the body, and the agent changes only what the job requires
Retries that replay the original An idempotency key on the write makes a retry return the first result instead of a duplicate record
The close reads itself The paid, unpaid, overdue and not due views answer directly, so the position is a query rather than a project

Use Case Scenarios

  • Order to booked invoice using the vendor's own templates

An order settles in Shopify or a subscription charge clears in Stripe. The agent resolves the customer with the customer filter, creating one with Create Customer if this is a first purchase, then calls Get Customers Templates Invoice to get a draft body already filled in for that customer and Get Customers Templates Invoiceline to get lines already priced for them. It posts the draft with Create Invoices Draft, adds anything the template did not cover with Create Invoices Drafts Line, and attaches the packing note with Upload Invoices Drafts Attachment File. The draft is complete and reversible. Booking waits.

  • A close that reads its own position

At period end the agent does not export anything. It reads List Invoices Totals Booked Unpaid Overdue and List Invoices Totals Booked Unpaid Not Overdue for the position, List Invoices Totals Drafts Customers for what is still unbilled, and Get Accounting Years Period for the period being closed. Those go into Google Sheets as the working set and a summary into Slack. Corrections are posted with Create Journals Voucher built from Get Journals Templates Finance Voucher. The controller spends the day on the exceptions rather than on the extraction.

  • Supplier documents that arrive as evidence, not as email

Supplier invoices reach the agent through Dext or a shared inbox. It matches the supplier with the supplier listing, records the entry through the journal, and calls Upload Journals Vouchers Attachment File so the PDF is attached to the voucher that references it. The vendor's patch route on a voucher attachment appends pages rather than replacing the file, which is exactly right when a supplier sends a correction to a document already filed. Attachments must be valid PDFs, so the agent converts before uploading and flags anything it cannot convert rather than filing a voucher with nothing behind it.

Human-in-Loop Highlight

Create Invoices Booked is the moment a document stops being the sales team's paperwork and becomes the company's accounts. It places the invoice into a specific accounting year and period, and the entries it generates are what the VAT return is eventually built from. Two properties of this API make an unsupervised booking run genuinely risky. First, a false boolean is omitted from a response rather than returned as false, so an agent checking whether an invoice is already booked by reading a flag will never see a match and will happily book it again. Second, the idempotency key that would protect the write is cached for one hour, so a retry that arrives later is a fresh write. Together they mean the failure is not an error. It is a second, valid, fully formed invoice sitting in the ledger. So the agent posts the batch first: "18 drafts ready to book into period 8 of accounting year 2026. Total 1,284,300.00 DKK. Draft numbers 4471 through 4488. Three carry attachments; none appears in the booked listing for this period. Book all 18?" The controller releases it. The agent built every document. It did not decide when they became the accounts.
