A new Brazilian supplier is submitted for onboarding with a CNPJ
Get Establishment returns the trading name, status, address, phones and activity codes
Get Federal Registration reads the record straight from the Receita Federal rather than from a cache
Get State Registrations and Get Simples Nacional Status establish the counterparty's tax registration position
Search People maps the partners and officers against the existing supplier and employee lists
The onboarding file posts to procurement with every register finding attached
A procurement lead rules on the related party match before the supplier is approved for payment

What This Integration Enables

CNPJa is for teams that treat Brazil's company register as a database rather than as a document you print once and file. The CNPJ register is public and structured, and CNPJa exposes it in the shape a flow can actually use: establishments addressed by a full fourteen digit CNPJ, companies addressed by their eight digit root, people addressed by identifier, and a structured search over all of it. That last part is what separates this connector from a lookup service. Search Establishments filters the register by activity code, location, status, founding date, company size and share capital, which turns it into a prospecting source. Search People finds every company an individual is connected to, which is the usual shape of a beneficial ownership or conflict of interest check.

Two practical properties shape how flows are built against it. Get Establishment and Get Postcode fall back to CNPJa's free open host when no API key is configured, so basic registration and postcode resolution work before anyone signs up for a plan. Everything else is metered per lookup, and each optional block on Get Establishment counts as its own billed query, which is why Get Account exists and why a flow that fans out over a supplier list checks the remaining allowance first. What the register says is a fact. What it means for a tax position is a determination the people who sign the returns make, and this connector is built to inform that judgment rather than to substitute for it.

Without FlowRunner

Verification as a one-time certificate Someone pulls a registration document at onboarding and nobody looks again
Ownership never gets checked Nobody has the time to ask who the partners behind a new supplier actually are
Register work done by hand Each check means a separate portal, a separate login and a screenshot pasted into a folder

With FlowRunner

Verification as a standing process Registration status, state registrations and tax regime are re-read on a schedule, not once
The ownership graph is queryable Partners and officers resolve to the other companies they sit behind, and matches surface as findings
The register feeds the systems Findings land on the vendor record and in the approval thread rather than in a folder nobody opens

Use Case Scenarios

  • Supplier onboarding that keeps checking

A supplier submits a CNPJ during onboarding. The agent calls Get Establishment for the registration record, then Get Federal Registration for the authoritative federal view when a status change is suspected, and Get Federal Certificate when a counterparty asks for the official proof of registration. Get State Registrations reports whether the supplier holds an active Inscrição Estadual in the states it trades goods in, and Get Simples Nacional Status reports whether it sits inside the simplified regime. All of it writes to the vendor record in NetSuite, and the same flow re-runs monthly so a supplier that goes inactive is caught by the schedule rather than by an accounts payable exception.

  • Territory research from the register itself

A sales team wants every active company in a given activity code and municipality above a share capital floor. Search Establishments answers that in one call rather than by scraping a directory. The agent enriches each hit with Get Company to reach the legal entity, its size and its full list of establishments, then appends the working list to Google Sheets with the founding date and status of each row. Because the search runs against the live register rather than a purchased list, the pipeline starts from companies that legally exist right now.

  • Invoicing that respects the counterparty's regime

Before a purchase invoice is raised, the agent reads Get Simples Nacional Status and Get State Registrations for the supplier and writes both onto the transaction in QuickBooks Online. Get SUFRAMA Registration runs for suppliers in the Manaus free trade zone, where it returns a registration that carries substantial incentives and elsewhere returns nothing found. Get Postcode resolves the CEP on the invoice to its street, district, city, state and IBGE municipality code so the address on the document matches the register. The agent assembles the position. The tax treatment is decided by the finance team, and the flow records which register values it was decided on.

Human-in-Loop Highlight

The finding this connector can produce that no agent should act on alone is a related party match. Search People returns the individuals recorded as partners and officers of Brazilian companies, so a flow can take the partners behind a new supplier and look for the same people behind an existing supplier, a competitor, or an employee's own company. That is exactly the check a procurement team wants running. It is also an accusation about a named person, and the identity evidence is deliberately incomplete, because Get Person returns the tax identifier masked. A common name plus an age band plus a partial identifier is a strong lead and not a proof. So the agent stops and posts to the procurement lead: "New supplier Alfa Serviços Ltda lists a partner whose name and masked tax identifier match a partner of approved supplier Beta Comércio Ltda, from Search People. Both are active. This is a name and partial identifier match, not a confirmed identity. Hold the approval and open a conflict review, or clear it as a namesake?" The lead decides, and the answer is written back onto both vendor records with the evidence attached. The agent found the connection at a speed no reviewer could match. Naming a person as conflicted is not a machine's call to make.

Agent Capabilities

12 actions

Company Data

5
  • Get Establishment Looks up a Brazilian establishment by its full fourteen digit CNPJ and returns its registration record. That covers trading name, founding date, whether it is the head office, status and status date, address, phones, emails, and the primary and secondary CNAE activities, plus the parent company with its legal nature, size, share capital and partners. Each optional block adds a separate billed lookup, so a flow turns on only what it needs. Falls back to CNPJa's free open host when no API key is configured.
  • Search Establishments Searches the establishment database by structured criteria rather than by a single CNPJ: activity code, location, status, founding date, company size and share capital. This is the prospecting route, and it is where the register stops being a lookup and becomes a source.
  • Get Company Returns the legal entity behind a CNPJ, addressed by its eight digit company root rather than by a full establishment CNPJ. Carries the corporate name, legal nature, size, share capital, partners and every establishment the company operates. Use Get Establishment when you have a fourteen digit CNPJ and want one address.
  • Search People Searches the people recorded as partners and officers of Brazilian companies by name, tax identifier, age or role. Finds every company an individual is connected to, which is the shape a beneficial ownership or conflict of interest check takes.
  • Get Person Returns one person from the register by identifier, with their name, age band, masked tax identifier and the companies they are a partner or officer of. The identifier comes from Search People or from a company's members list.

Reference Data

1
  • Get Postcode Resolves a Brazilian postcode to its street, district, city, state and IBGE municipality code. Falls back to the free open host when no API key is configured, so it works without one.

Tax Registers

5
  • Get Federal Registration Returns an establishment's registration straight from the Receita Federal rather than from CNPJa's cache. The route to use when you need the authoritative federal record, for example to confirm a status change a cached lookup has not picked up.
  • Get Federal Certificate Returns the official Receita Federal registration certificate for an establishment, the document Brazilian counterparties routinely ask for as proof of registration.
  • Get State Registrations Returns an establishment's state tax registrations from the centralized taxpayer register, with the status in each state it is registered in. A company trading goods needs one, so an absence or a suspension is a meaningful signal in a supplier check.
  • Get Simples Nacional Status Returns whether an establishment is enrolled in Simples Nacional and in SIMEI, with the dates of entry and exit. The regime determines how a counterparty must be invoiced, which makes this a routine step before onboarding a Brazilian supplier.
  • Get SUFRAMA Registration Returns an establishment's SUFRAMA registration, which applies to companies operating in the Manaus free trade zone and carries substantial tax incentives. Relevant only inside that zone; elsewhere it returns nothing found.

Account

1
  • Get Account Returns the account with its plan and remaining query allowance. CNPJa bills per lookup and each optional block on Get Establishment is a separate billed query, so this is the check a flow runs before it fans out over a list.
