Connect AI agents to Anaplan, the enterprise planning and FP&A platform. Agents discover workspaces and models, read cell data from saved views, add and update list members, and run and monitor import, export, and process tasks through the Integration API.

The nightly close of the sales system produces an updated product and region roster
Get List Items reads the current members of the Products list in the planning model
The agent diffs the external roster against the Anaplan list and classifies each change as add, update, or retire
Add List Items and Update List Items apply the additions and renames, reporting added, ignored, and failed counts
The model owner reviews the retirements, since removing members deletes their cell data, and approves the delete action
Run Action executes the approved delete-from-list action as a task
Get Task Status polls to completion and the reconciliation summary posts to the planning channel

What This Integration Enables

Anaplan models are only as trustworthy as the dimensions that structure them and the data flows that feed them, and both of those are maintenance workloads that fall on planning teams during exactly the weeks they can least afford it. FlowRunner agents take the maintenance: they keep lists synchronized with systems of record, run and monitor import, export, and process tasks, and read cell data out of saved views so planning numbers reach the rest of the company without manual exports. - Read cell data from saved views into spreadsheets, warehouses, and BI dashboards - Keep Products, Regions, and Cost Centers lists in sync with external systems of record - Trigger imports, exports, actions, and processes on demand and poll them to completion - Inspect row-level failure dumps and alert the planning team with specifics - Discover model structure, workspaces, models, modules, views, lists, to drive metadata-aware automations A planning model is a system of record for the company's forward numbers, so FlowRunner's [human-in-the-loop](/concepts/human-in-the-loop) gate guards the operations that destroy model data.

Without FlowRunner

The model lags the business Products, regions, and cost centers change in source systems weeks before anyone updates the lists
Imports run on faith Someone kicks off a process and moves on, and row-level failures surface at review time
Forecast data exits by hand Getting planning numbers into the warehouse means an analyst exporting files every cycle

With FlowRunner

Lists reconcile continuously Agents diff external rosters against model lists and apply adds and updates with counted results
Every task is watched to completion Run tasks get polled, failure dumps get read, and the planning team hears about problems the same hour
Views flow downstream on schedule Saved views land in warehouses and dashboards without an analyst touching an export dialog

Use Case Scenarios

The forecast that publishes itself

Every Monday morning, the agent calls Get View Data on the consolidated forecast view in Tabular Multi Column layout, getting a flat, spreadsheet-like result. The rows land in the warehouse and a summary tab in [Google Sheets](/integrations/google-sheets) for the leadership meeting. The FP&A team stops being a human export pipeline, and every downstream consumer reads the same numbers from the same view on the same schedule.

Dimension sync with counted results

The ERP adds four new cost centers and renames two. The agent reads the current Cost Centers list with Get List Items, diffs it against the ERP extract, then calls Add List Items for the new members and Update List Items for the renames. The response reports added, ignored, and failed counts, and anything failed goes straight to the model owner with the offending rows attached. The model's dimensions track the general ledger without a planning analyst re-keying codes.

The overnight process with a morning report

At 2 a.m., the agent starts the nightly data load with Run Process and polls Get Task Status until the bundled imports complete. If the result carries row-level failures, the agent extracts the failure dump and posts the specifics to [Slack](/integrations/slack) before the planning team logs in: which import, which rows, which fields. A clean run posts a one-line confirmation. Either way, nobody discovers a half-loaded model in the middle of a forecast review.

Human-in-Loop Highlight

Run Action exists in this connector largely to execute delete-from-list actions, and deleting a list member in Anaplan takes its cell data with it: every forecast figure, every assumption keyed to that product or cost center, gone from the model. A reconciliation agent that treats "not in the source extract" as "safe to delete" will eventually delete a member that was renamed upstream, and with it a quarter's planning detail. So FlowRunner agents apply adds and updates on their own but stage every removal. The model owner sees the members slated for deletion, the modules referencing them, and the reason the agent believes they are retired. Only after that approval does Run Action fire, with Get Task Status confirming the result. Additions are cheap to reverse. Deletions in a planning model are not.

Agent Capabilities

18 actions

Workspaces and Models

2
  • List Workspaces Retrieves the workspaces the integration user can access, with ID, name, and storage allowance and usage. Optionally includes each workspace's model count.
  • List Models Retrieves the models in a workspace, or across all workspaces, with ID, name, active state, and last-saved timestamp. The entry point for every model-scoped operation.

Model Metadata

3
  • List Modules Retrieves a model's modules, the building blocks holding line items and cell data. Used to locate where the numbers live.
  • List Views Retrieves the saved views defined in a model, optionally scoped to one module. Views are the primary read surface for cell data.
  • Get View Data Reads cell data from a saved view as pages, rows, columns, and values, in raw Grid form or flattened Tabular Multi Column layout for downstream consumption.

Lists

4
  • List Lists Retrieves the lists that dimension a model, such as Products, Regions, or Cost Centers, with ID and name.
  • Get List Items Retrieves a list's members with internal ID, name, code, parent, and optionally property values. The read that precedes every sync and every update.
  • Add List Items Adds members to a list, with name, code for numbered lists, and parent for hierarchies. Returns counts of added, ignored, and failed items.
  • Update List Items Updates existing members by internal ID or code, changing name, parent, or property values. Returns counts of updated and failed items.

Task Discovery

4
  • List Imports Retrieves a model's import actions with ID, name, and source type. Used to find the right import before running it.
  • List Exports Retrieves a model's export actions with ID, name, and format. Used before Run Export.
  • List Actions Retrieves the general actions in a model, such as delete-from-list actions, with ID and name.
  • List Processes Retrieves the processes that bundle imports, exports, and deletes into one sequence.

Run Tasks

5
  • Run Import Starts an import as an asynchronous task and returns a task ID for polling. The import's source file must already be uploaded to the model.
  • Run Export Starts an export as an asynchronous task. Poll to completion, then retrieve the generated file from the model's files.
  • Run Action Starts a general action, including delete-from-list actions, as a task. The operation this page's human gate exists for.
  • Run Process Starts a process as a single task that runs its bundled actions in sequence, with per-action results on completion.
  • Get Task Status Retrieves a task's state, progress, and completed result, including the success flag and any row-level failure dump. The polling step behind every run.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can FlowRunner do with Anaplan?

FlowRunner agents can run List Workspaces, List Models, and List Modules in Anaplan, plus 15 more actions.

Does connecting Anaplan to FlowRunner require OAuth?

No. Anaplan connects to FlowRunner with session-based authentication, no OAuth flow required.

Can Anaplan trigger a FlowRunner workflow automatically?

Anaplan doesn't currently expose triggers in FlowRunner. It connects as an action step inside workflows started by another trigger.
