ActiveTrail
Email MarketingActiveTrail is an Israeli email, SMS, and marketing automation platform. Agents manage contacts, groups, and mailing lists, launch email and SMS campaigns, send transactional messages, and pull campaign reports by outcome.
What This Integration Enables
ActiveTrail treats SMS as a first class channel rather than an upsell. There are campaigns, reports and transactional routes for messages as well as for mail, with their own delivery outcomes, their own clickers and their own per link detail. For a team whose audience actually answers a text, that changes what a workflow can do: the same resolved audience can receive an email and a message, and the results of both come back in comparable shape.
The reporting surface is the other reason to reach for this connector. ActiveTrail does not return one results object. Opens, unopened, sent, bounces, complaints, per provider breakdowns and per link clicks are each their own operation, which is tedious by hand and ideal for an agent. The unopened list is a ready made resend audience. The complaints list is the number that damages a sending reputation fastest. FlowRunner agents pull all of them, join them against contact records and put the picture somewhere a person will see it, which is what makes the human-in-the-loop moment on this page a decision rather than a rubber stamp.

Use Case Scenarios
-
One audience reached on both channels
An order from Shopify reaches the agent. Add Contact To Mailing List places the buyer in the audience they belong to, setting the subscription status explicitly rather than accepting a default that leaves them neither subscribed nor unsubscribed, and Add Contact To Group applies the finer grouping a campaign can target. When a launch goes out, Create Campaign builds the email against the resolved contacts and Create SMS Campaign builds the message against the group, with a cap on how many recipients it reaches. Get Balance is read first, because for SMS the remaining balance is what actually limits the send. List Campaign Sent and List SMS Campaign Recipients then reconcile who was reached on each channel.
-
A resend that targets the people who did not read it
Two days after a send, the agent calls List Campaign Unopened, which returns exactly the contacts the campaign reached who never opened it. Those contacts become the audience for a second campaign with a different subject line, built through Create Campaign, which targets contacts rather than a whole mailing list and is what makes a one off resend possible at all. List Campaign Opens supplies the other side for reporting, Get Campaign Report gives the totals and the links the campaign contained, and List Campaign Link Clicks resolves who clicked one specific link. The comparison lands in Google Sheets.

Watching deliverability instead of discovering it
On a schedule the agent walks List Campaign Reports for the period, then pulls List Campaign Complaints and List Campaign Bounces for anything that moved. List Campaign Domains breaks the results down by mailbox provider, which is how a problem at one provider is spotted while the overall numbers still look healthy. When a person reports not receiving mail, Get Contact Errors returns the delivery failures recorded against them, and a hard bounce there explains why nothing more is being sent. Get Executive Report and Get Contact Growth give the account level view, and anything that crosses a threshold posts to Slack with the campaign named.
Human-in-Loop Highlight
ActiveTrail has no send route for an email campaign. Releasing one is a field on Update Campaign: set it, and the campaign goes. That means every routine edit an agent makes to a draft, a subject line fix, a corrected link, a changed schedule, travels through the same operation that mails the list. Personalization compounds it, because ActiveTrail does not use merge tags. It performs a literal replacement, where the key is the exact text to find in the content, and a mismatch does not fail. It delivers the placeholder text to every recipient, visibly, with no error anywhere in the response. So the agent splits the two things the vendor combined. It builds and edits freely, sends a proof to a single review address without touching the audience, and then stops: "The campaign is built against this audience and the proof is attached. The replacement pairs render as shown, so please check the greeting and the offer line specifically. Confirm and I will release it, or tell me what to change." The owner reads the actual rendered message and answers. Only then does the agent set the field that releases it, with the confirmation recorded against the run. The agent does the assembly, the audience resolution and the deliverability check. The single boolean that turns an edit into a send belongs to a person.
Agent Capabilities
60 actionsAccount
6- Get Executive Report Returns the account's headline numbers: how much has been sent, how it performed and how the contact base is doing. Takes no input, which also makes it the quickest connection check.
- Get Contact Growth Returns how the contact base grew over a date range, joins against departures. Both dates are required on this route.
- List Sending Profiles Returns the account's sending profiles: the from name, address and reply address a campaign sends under. Every send requires one, so this is where the identifier comes from.
- Get Balance Returns the account's remaining sending balance, which for SMS and some email plans is what actually limits a send.
- Get Signup Form Reads one signup form, including its fields and the list or group it feeds.
- Get Landing Page Reads one landing page, with its content and the form it carries.
Groups
9- List Groups Returns the account's contact groups. A group is the tag like grouping within an audience, separate from a mailing list, and a campaign can be aimed at either.
- Get Group Reads one group with its name and member count.
- Create Group Creates a contact group. The group is created empty and filled by adding contacts or by importing into it.
- Update Group Renames a group. Its members are unaffected, because membership is stored against the group rather than the name.
- Delete Group Deletes a group. The contacts in it stay on the account and lose that membership.
- List Group Members Returns the contacts in a group, filterable by their state and by when they joined.
- Get Group Member Reads one contact as a member of a group, which reports its state within that group specifically rather than on the account as a whole.
- Add Contact To Group Adds a contact to a group, creating the contact if the address is new. The subscription status is set here rather than inherited, and the vendor's default leaves a contact neither subscribed nor unsubscribed.
- Remove Contact From Group Removes a contact from a group. The contact stays on the account, so this narrows who a group targeted campaign reaches without unsubscribing anyone.
Mailing Lists
6- Get Mailing List Reads one mailing list. A mailing list is the audience a contact belongs to, and groups are the finer grouping within it.
- Create Mailing List Creates a mailing list, the top level audience contacts belong to.
- Delete Mailing List Deletes a mailing list. Campaigns aimed at it no longer have an audience, so anything scheduled against it is checked first.
- List Mailing List Members Returns the contacts on a mailing list, page by page.
- Add Contact To Mailing List Adds a contact to a mailing list, creating it if the address is new, and optionally places it into groups at the same time. The status set here decides whether the contact is actually mailable.
- Remove Contact From Mailing List Removes a contact from a mailing list. The contact record itself stays on the account.
Contacts
10- List Contacts Returns the account's contacts, filterable by state, by text and by the dates they were added.
- Get Contact Reads one contact with its named fields and its numbered custom slots.
- Update Contact Updates a contact. This is also where the flag that stops mailing someone lives, which is the alternative to deletion when the record and its history should survive.
- Delete Contact Deletes a contact from the account. Deletion does not suppress the address, so a deleted contact can be re-added by any later import.
- Import Contacts Imports many contacts into a mailing list and, optionally, a group in one call. The bulk counterpart to the single add operations.
- Get Contact Groups Returns the groups a contact belongs to, which is how you tell which group targeted campaigns will reach it.
- Get Contact Activity Returns what a contact has done: the campaigns it received and its opens, clicks and unsubscribes across them.
- Get Contact Errors Returns the delivery failures recorded against a contact. The first place to look when someone reports not receiving mail.
- Get Contact Transactional Stats Returns how one contact responded to one transactional email: whether it was delivered, opened and clicked.
- Get Contact Transactional SMS Stats Returns how one contact responded to one transactional message: whether it was delivered and whether any link in it was clicked.
Transactional
6- List Transactional Classifications Returns the classifications a transactional email can be filed under. A classification is required when sending, and it is what separates a receipt from a marketing message for reporting and consent.
- Send Transactional Email Sends a transactional email to one or more addresses. Personalization is a literal replacement rather than a merge tag, so the content has to contain the exact text being replaced.
- List Transactional SMS Returns the transactional messages on the account.
- Get Transactional SMS Reads one transactional message with its content and scheduling.
- Send Transactional SMS Sends a transactional message to specific numbers, either now or at a scheduled moment. Sending now and scheduling are alternatives, and choosing neither leaves the message unsent.
- Update Transactional SMS Updates a transactional message that has not gone out yet. The vendor takes the whole message back, so the record is read first and returned with the change applied.
Email Campaigns
5- List Campaigns Returns the account's email campaigns, filterable by mailing list, text and date range.
- Get Campaign Reads one email campaign with its content, sending profile, template and schedule.
- Create Campaign Creates an email campaign aimed at a specific set of contacts given by identifier or by address, which is what makes a one off resend to a computed audience possible.
- Update Campaign Updates an email campaign that has not gone out. This route also releases it, because setting the sent field is what sends the campaign and the scheduled date is when it goes.
- Delete Campaign Deletes an email campaign. One that has already been sent loses its record and therefore its reports, so anything needed is exported first.
SMS Campaigns
4- List SMS Campaigns Returns the account's message campaigns.
- Get SMS Campaign Reads one message campaign with its content, audience and scheduling.
- Create SMS Campaign Creates a message campaign aimed at groups or a mailing list. As with email, the sent field is what releases it, and a limit caps how many recipients it reaches.
- Update SMS Campaign Updates a message campaign that has not gone out. As with the create, setting the sent field releases it.
Reports
14- List Campaign Reports Returns the summary report for every campaign in a date range: sent, opened, clicked, bounced and unsubscribed.
- Get Campaign Report Returns the full report for one campaign, with its totals and the links it contained.
- List Campaign Opens Returns the contacts who opened a campaign, optionally narrowed to one group.
- List Campaign Unopened Returns the contacts a campaign reached who did not open it, which is the ready made audience for a resend with a different subject line.
- List Campaign Sent Returns the contacts a campaign was actually sent to, which is the denominator behind its open and click rates.
- List Campaign Bounces Returns the addresses a campaign bounced from. A hard bounce here is why the platform stops mailing an address.
- List Campaign Complaints Returns the contacts who marked a campaign as spam. The number to watch for deliverability, because complaints damage a sending reputation far faster than bounces.
- List Campaign Domains Breaks a campaign's results down by the recipients' mailbox provider, which is how a problem at one provider is spotted while the totals still look healthy.
- List Campaign Link Clicks Returns the contacts who clicked one specific link in a campaign. The link identifier comes from the campaign report.
- List SMS Campaign Reports Returns the summary report for every message campaign in a date range.
- Get SMS Campaign Report Returns the report for one message campaign, with its delivery totals.
- List SMS Campaign Recipients Returns the recipients of a message campaign in one of four outcomes: sent, delivered, failed or unsubscribed. Sent and delivered are different numbers, because a message can leave the platform and never arrive.
- List SMS Campaign Clickers Returns the recipients who clicked a link in a message campaign. Link tracking has to have been on when the campaign was created.
- List SMS Campaign Link Clicks Returns the recipients who clicked one specific link in a message campaign, which is the per link detail behind the clickers report.
